University Entry Requirements

You may have heard a number of references in the media recently to “hard” and “soft” A level subjects and the impact that these can have on whether or not a student is accepted into University. Please click here to access the Russell Group Guide to University Entry Requirements which is a useful reference on which qualifications some of the top universities will accept.

Although this is a useful document, it is worth remembering, however, that it is not a definitive guide and that not all top universities are part of the Russell Group for example St. Andrews, Bath, Sussex, Durham, York and Exeter are part of the “1994 group.” The guide only applies to some of our students as many progress to other universities and to employment or apprenticeships. Most importantly, students should choose subjects which match their interests and academic ability. They are more likely to be successful on courses in which they have talent and are genuinely committed to.
