Norwegian Students Visit S6F

Dec 13, 2011

Students from a Norwegian school have had a taste of British college life at Scarborough Sixth Form College. The group of students, who were accompanied by 7 teachers, travelled here from Fyllingsdalen School in Bergen on the western coast of Norway.

On Tuesday 6th December, the 56-strong group of Scandinavians spent a morning as special guests of the college. Their day began with an introductory talk by Vice Principal Rowan Johnson on the education system in
this country, followed by a guided tour of the campus. The looked around all departments including the college’s newly completed music centre, part of a current £1 million investment in S6F.

The Norwegians also participated in a typical A Level General Studies lesson at the college which made use of their advanced English language skills. Norwegian group leader and English teacher Linn Svardal Gunnerod said; “We enjoyed visiting an English college. It is interesting to compare everything we have seen today to our own education system. We would like to thank the Sixth Form very much for their hospitality.”
