S6F Business BTEC Students Make their Mark!

A team of six BTEC Business students beat hundreds of teams from other schools and colleges to go through to the regional heat of the Make Your Mark Enterprise Challenge. The students had to devise a business proposal with a firm focus on being environmentally friendly. The team maxed out on green credentials with an idea for education cruises from Scarborough to Whitby. Their suggestion of cruises, in a boat powered by surplus fish and chip oil, would allow school children to witness the impact of global warming on the North East coastline.

Although the students performed well, they did not get through to the national final. However, Dawn Brown, won a special commendation and a prize in the form of a tree, for the quality of the answers that she gave to questions. “Dawn and all the other members of the team, JP Bouckley, Ryan Bright, Ignacy Filipiuk and Phil Johnson made excellent contributions to the presentation to the panel of judges, and should be congratulated on their efforts,” said their teacher Marie Cammish.
